Clifford Henry Benoit Jr.

Clifford Henry Benoit Jr., 83, of 134 Barlow Ave. died yesterday at the Sweet Brook Health Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Dec. 22, 1921, son of Clifford and Mary Hall Benoit, he attended schools there. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private first class with the 546th Bombardment Squadron.. Mr. Benoit was last employed as truck driver and carpenter for K-K Home Mart, retiring at the age of 70 in 1991. He also worked for several years for the former Worthmore Stores. He was a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW, and he participated in the bowling leagues at the Mount Greylock Bowl. He and his wife of 63 years, the former Mabel Godfrey, were married May 16, 1942, in Our Lady of the Incarnation Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Deborah Benoit of North Adams, and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Benoit. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of Clifford H. Benoit Jr. will take place Friday at 10 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., with the Rev. Robert Moulton, Deacon of Adams Catholic Community, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home. Survivors include a granddaughter, Candice Benoit. He was predeceased by five sisters and five brothers, Eunice DiGennero, Pearl Tatro, Elaine Angeli, Mary Caprari, Jennie Modena, and Monty, Donald, George, Sydney and Eugene Benoit.
