Marion Frances Smith

Marion Frances Smith, 57, of 231 Bradford St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 22, 1947, daughter of Frederick and Phyllis Smith Smith, she attended local schools. Mrs. Smith was employed by Berkshire Health Systems as a receptionist at the Hillcrest Campus' Family Health Center for 25 years, retiring in 2003 because of ill health. During that time, she was a receptionist for the operating room, and on the nursing floors, the EKG department and the business office. She was a former communicant of St. Charles' Church and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at one time. She enjoyed knitting and had been sky diving five times. She leaves two sons, James Farina and Brian Farina Sr., both of Pittsfield; two daughters, Kimberley Farina-Moranti of Hudson, N.Y., and Karen Farina of Pittsfield; three brothers, Francis Smith, Robert Smith and Fred Smith, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Mary Jane LeBrun of Woonsocket, R.I., and three grandchildren. She also leaves her longtime companion, Charles Wilson, with whom she lived. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Marion F. Smith, who died June 11, 2005, will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., with the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton, officiating. Burial will follow in Stockbridge Cemetery, Stockbridge. Calling hours will be today, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in care of the funeral home. Marion is lovingly survived by her three grandchildren, Brian Jr., Ashley and Neveah. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Smith.
