Martha Marie Rousseau

Martha Marie Rousseau, 88, a former resident, died Wednesday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on Nov. 7, 1916, daughter of Adolphe and Mary Mousseau Neveu, the family moved to Adams in 1921 and she attended schools there, including the former Notre Dame School and the former Plunkett Junior High School. Mrs. Rousseau was employed by the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District as a cafeteria worker, retiring in 1976. She had first worked as an inspector in the cloth room at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. Her husband, Charles E. Rousseau, whom she married June 5, 1937, died Oct. 13, 1989. She leaves a son, Ronald E. Rousseau of Pittsfield; a brother, Bernard Neveu of Adams, six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by another son, John C. Rousseau. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Martha M. Rousseau will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, in Notre Dame Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home. She also leaves two daughters-in-law, Carolyn Rousseau of Pittsfield and Norma Rousseau of Mendon; six loving grandchildren, Nicole Rousseau of New York City, Michael Rousseau of Hopkinton, Renee and Jaimie Rousseau of Mendon, Danielle Francis of Charlotte, N.C., and Danielle L'Heureux of North Pole, Ark., and a great-grandchild, Ella Rose L'Heureux. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lawrence, Adrian and Alfred Neveu, and four sisters, Mae Breen, Amelda Bissaillon, Agnes Neveu and Rachel Fiedler. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed her family and friends. She will be sadly missed.
