Gloria Myrtle Barber

Gloria Myrtle Barber, 73, of Capitol Square Apartments, formerly known as Bradford Arms, died Wednesday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on May 13, 1932, daughter of Andrew F. and Anna Cardin Barber, she attended local schools. Ms. Barber was employed as a waitress in local establishments for several years, retiring in 1975. She leaves two brothers, Walter Barber and Eugene Barber, both of Pittsfield, and five sisters, Lillian Larder of Thompson, Ga., Jean Barber and Joyce Secord, both of Pittsfield, Irene Barna of Ludlow, and Clair Ostrander of Lanesborough. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Gloria M. Barber, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, will be Saturday, Sept. 10, at 8:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund (American Red Cross) in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Miss Barber was predeceased by two brothers, George Barber and Andrew Barber, and a sister, Ann Rice. She leaves several nieces and nephews.
