Tadeusz Piekos, 73
CHESHIRE, Mass. — Tadeusz Piekos, 73, of Daniels Road, Ransomville, N.Y., a native of Cheshire, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Kenmore (N.Y.) Mercy Hospital.
Born on Oct. 14, 1932, son of Jan and Karolina Bulsa Piekos, he was a 1950 graduate of the former Adams High School. He moved to Ransomville in 1987.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1950 to 1954 and was stationed in Japan from 1950 to 1953. He received several campaign medals.
After the service, Mr. Piekos moved to Connecticut, where he worked at Pratt & Whitney until 1956. He returned to Cheshire and operated Berkshire Power Equipment with his brothers Frank and John until 1963, when he joined Sabre Saw Co. in Dalton. He transferred to its Lewiston, N.Y., plant in 1966.
He also was vice president of Herr Manufacturing in Tonawanda, N.Y., and worked for Distributor Imports. He established Outdoor Equipment Distributors on Ridge Road in Lockport, N.Y., in 1976, operating it until his death.
He was a member of American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451.
He and his wife, the former Vicki Burrows of Otis, were married Oct. 5, 1963.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Lauri Piekos of Buffalo, N.Y.; four sisters, Emilia Jajko of Cheshire, Marie Adamcek of Lancaster, Pa., Sophie J. Gwozdz of Cheshire and Victoria Zabawa of Southampton, and two brothers, Henry Piekos of Kissimmee, Fla., and Frank Piekos of Cheshire, and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Josef, Stanley, Walter, John and Kazimier Piekos, and by a nephew, David Zabawa.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Calling hours for Mr. Piekos will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
The funeral will be at the convenience of the family.
