Eleanor M. Stack

Eleanor M. Stack, 81, of 832 W. 36th St., Yuma, Ariz., died Tuesday at her home. She was formerly a resident of 10 Marshall St. She moved to Yuma five years ago. Born in Cohoes, N.Y., on Aug. 6, 1924, daughter of George and Grace Borden Peat, she moved to Adams as a child and attended schools there. She graduated in 1942 from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams. Mrs. Stack was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She and her husband, the late Wilfred W. Stack, were married Nov. 11, 1942. He died May 5, 2003. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Sprague 25-Year Club. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She leaves a son, Donald W. Stack of Somerton, Ariz.; four sisters, Lucille Wikes of Clifton Park, N.Y., Katherine St. Andrews of Waterford, N.Y., Mary Anne Clayton of Greenwich, N.Y., and Nancy Daigneault of Clarksburg; four brothers, Kenneth Peat and Francis Peat, both of Waterford, Robert Peat of Cohoes and Wilfred Peat of Port St. Lucie, Fla. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Eleanor M. Peat Stack, who died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at 10 at Notre Dame Church, followed by interment in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. The family will greet friends Friday from 4 to 7 at McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Northern Berkshire Mental Health Center, 25 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, or in care of the funeral home, 6 Liberty St., Adams, MA 01220. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
