John Dagruel

John Dagruel, 80, of 2 Bernard Gibbons Drive, Housatonic, died Monday at his home. Born in Housatonic on Jan. 27, 1925, son of August and Mary Murphy Dagruel, he attended local schools. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a sonar man. Mr. Dagruel worked as a technician for the former Great Barrington Electric Co. for more than 30 years. He retired in 1986. He enjoyed working with electronics and collecting N-gauge model railroad trains. He and his second wife, the former Agnes R. Golden, were married April 10, 1977. She died May 11, 1996. Besides his first wife, the former Elsie M. Gage of Housatonic, he leaves two sons, Robert Dagruel of Riverside, Calif., and Michael J. Dagruel of Sheffield; three daughters, Nancy L. Cronin of Post Falls, Idaho, Ann M. Martin of Alford and Mary J. Forfa of Stockbridge; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John "Jack" Dagruel, who died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, will be Friday at 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Foss. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Housatonic. Family will receive friends preceding the funeral from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Terri Dagruel of Sheffield, and three sons-in-law, Stephen Cronin, Bruce Martin and Joseph Forfa. He was also predeceased by a sister, Helena Hardenberg.
