Robert Louis Hunt

Robert Louis Hunt, 58, of 45 Plunkett Reservoir Road died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 8, 1947, son of Gladys Smith Hunt Lennon and the late Robert E. Hunt, he was educated in Dalton schools. He moved to Hinsdale in 1995. A Vietnam War veteran, Mr. Hunt served in the Navy from March 4, 1965, to July 24, 1968, aboard the USS Capricornus. From 1968 to 1971, he served with the Seabee Reserve. He received several campaign medals. Mr. Hunt had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler at the Pittsfield post office since 1987. From 1973 to 1986, he worked for Daniel International Corp. in Bear Swamp, Va., where he was general superintendent in charge of industrial construction. He was a member of Benjamin F. Sullivan American Legion Post 155 in Dalton and of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed landscaping his yard. He and his wife, the former Patricia L. Driscoll, were married Sept. 23, 1967, in Dalton. Besides his wife and mother, of Dalton, he leaves his stepfather, Arthur Lennon of Dalton; two daughters, Robin L. MacPherson of Dalton and Tricia L. Chadbourne of Bucksport, Maine; a brother, Clayton A. Lennon of the state of Georgia; a sister, Bonnie J. Leach of Lanesborough, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert L. Hunt, who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, will be conducted Friday at 11 at Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton by the Rev. Mary Schreiber, senior missioner. Burial will be in the spring in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226. He loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
