Stephen E. Grande Jr.

Stephen E. Grande Jr., 80, of Sudbury, father of Lorna M. Grande of Stockbridge, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at home. Born in Boston on June 25, 1925, son of Stephen E. and Conchetta Mucci Grande, he was educated there. He moved to Sudbury in 1949. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he flew in a B-117 and served as a radioman with the 452nd Bomber Group. Mr. Grande was co-owner of the former Grande Brothers Masonry Corp. His company built many structures, including the buildings that comprised the original Bentley College in Waltham. He was also a real estate developer. He was active in town government and served on the Sudbury Permanente Building Committee. He was a 45-year member of Nashawtuc Country Club and a former member of the Sudbury Kiwanis. He enjoyed playing golf. He was formerly married to the late Rose Ann Avallon Grande. Besides his daughter Lorna, he leaves another daughter, Edytheann Shaer of Sudbury; a son, Stephen E. Grande III of Sudbury; two brothers, Orlando S. Grande and Raymond Grande ; two sisters, Lindy Grande and Tina Grande; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Stephen E. Grande, Jr., who died Jan. 1, 2006, will be Thursday at 8 a.m. from Duckett-J.S. Waterman and Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury. Visiting hours are tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Town Cemetery, Sudbury. Donations in memory of Mr. Grande may be made to Nashawtuc Charities, 1861 Sudbury Road, Concord, MA 01742. He leaves his son-in-law, Peter E. Shaer and Stephen III's companion, Jan Pitzi of Sudbury. He was grandfather to Erica Pitzi, Marla Sirois, and Julie and Alix Shaer, and great-grandfather to Sarah and Emilie Sirois. His former longtime companion, Patricia Forester, predeceased him.
