Roma Kathleen Lanier

Roma Kathleen Lanier, 89, of 4 Columbia St., died Tuesday evening at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on March 22, 1916, daughter of Peter and Mary Bachinske Martin, she attended schools in Adams, including the former Adams High School. Mrs. Lanier last worked at Decker's Cleaners in Adams for many years until her retirement. Earlier, she had worked at the former Petri's Cleaners at their Adams and North Adams location, and at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. She was a communicant of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus and Notre Dame-St. Thomas' and was a member of the St. Thomas Rosary Sodality, the St. Thomas Choir and Adams Senior Citizens. She enjoyed bowling and received many trophies for her skill. Her husband, Frances T. Lanier, whom she married on May 30, 1940, died May 16, 2000. She leaves a daughter, Lynda M. Cain of Adams; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Roma Kathleen Lanier, who died Feb. 14, 2006, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 9:15 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. James F. McAndrews, S.J. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. She leaves two granddaughters, Lori Marie Lemoine of Granby, Conn., and Erin Colleen Morgan of McKeesport, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Connor Morgan and Dalton and Grace Lemoine, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Neil P. Cain; a brother, Ambrose Martin, and five sisters, Helen Martin, who died in infancy, Blanche Lewis, Loretta Millette, Emma Leonard and Gladys Dilk. Memorial donations may b e made to the Parish of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220.
