Sophie T. Bombardier

Sophie T. Bombardier, 82, of 31 Lanesborough Road died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 27, 1923, daughter of Stanley and Josephine Kacensky Stodulski, she was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She moved to Cheshire 18 years ago from Adams. Mrs. Bombardier was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 30 years as a solderer, retiring in 1987. Before that, she worked at General Electric Co. for a few years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars' Ladies' Auxiliary in Adams and the Cheshire Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and taking bus trips to Foxwood's and Mohegan Sun casinos. She and her husband, Joseph L. Bombardier, were married April 25, 1947, in Miami. He died Feb. 11, 2003. She leaves a son, Richard L. Bombardier of Cheshire; a sister, Helen Auger of Dalton, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Sophie T. Bombardier, 82, of Cheshire, who died Feb. 17, 2006, will be Wednesday at 9:15 from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home. Mrs. Bombardier also leaves her granddaughter, Nicole A. Bombardier, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Statia Koprek and Blanche Walger, and by three brothers, Joseph, Edward and William Stodulski. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to the Cheshire Senior Center, both in care of the funeral home, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225. She also enjoyed her dog "Buddy."
