Allan E. Kelly

Allan E. Kelly, 75, of 32 Broadway St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on July 22, 1930, son of George T. Kelly Sr. and Daisy Wixon Kelly, he was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a military instructor at Fort Knox, Ky. Mr. Kelly worked as a machinist and, later, as a production coordinator for General Electric Co., retiring in 1987 after 33 years service. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 68, and a charter member of the local Irish-American Organization. He enjoyed reading and discussing politics and was a New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He leaves two sons, Timothy Kelly and Brian Kelly, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Alana Kocsis of Merrimack, N.H.; three brothers, George T. Kelly Jr. of Utica, N.Y., R. Jack Kelly of Pittsfield and Donald F. Kelly of Locke, N.Y.; a sister, Kathleen Davis of Las Vegas; his longtime companion, Joyce Race, with whom he resided, and 10 grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, the former Geraldine Farrell. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Allan E. Kelly, 75, died in Pittsfield on Feb. 19, 2006. Beloved grandfather of Giovanni Lynch, and Gregory, Timothy, Lauren, Taylor and Brian Kelly, and John Kocsis III and Brian, Phillip and Daniel Kocsis. Father-in-law to Susan and Judie Kelly and John Kocsis. The funeral will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Feb. 21, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Kelly's memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home. Mr. Kelly was predeceased by a brother, Michael Kelly, in 1965.
