Pastor Milford H. Knights

Pastor Milford H. Knights, 80, of 1100 Mohawk Trail died Thursday at home. An ordained minister, he was pastor of the Florida and Savoy Baptist churches, retiring in 1986. Born in North Adams on Nov. 7, 1925, son of Milford C. and Mary Rainey Knights, he attended local schools, including the former Drury Academy. He was a four-year Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater as a radio controlman third class. Mr. Knights was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for many years as a draftsman and manager, retiring in 1971. His wife, the former Bernice Rowell, whom he married April 8, 1946, died May 10, 1990. He leaves a daughter, Arlene E. Mabe of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sons, the Rev. Harry E. Knights of Springfield, pastor of CityLight Ministry Center, and Richard B. Knights of Adams; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Milford H. Knights, who died Feb. 16, 2006, will be held Tuesday at 10 at Florida Baptist Church in Florida. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Baptist Church through TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements. He also leaves a son-in-law, Johnny Mabe; two daughters-in-law, Kathy and Sally Knights; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend and caregiver, Althea Maynard. He was predeceased by two bothers, Howard and Robert Knights.
