Mandell L. Smith

Mandell L. Smith, 67, of 90 Windigo Road died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Orange, Fla., on Feb. 1, 1939, son of MacDonald and Norma Hinds Smith, he attended Williamsburg schools and graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., in 1973. He was retired from General Electric Co., where he worked for many years, and also was employed by Anderson Consulting. Mr. Smith was a member of Gerald E. Larkin Post 237 American Legion, the National Ski Patrol and Alpha Kappa Psi. He leaves a son, Kyle Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Kolleen Schmitt of Fredericksburg, Va.; a brother, Chandler "Butch" Smith of Williamsburg; two sisters, Terry Gingras of Haydenville and Dorothy "DeeDee" Hunt of Norfolk; three grandchildren; his longtime companion, Eileen Robinson, and his former wife, Deana Hadsella Smith. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Mandell L. Smith, who died Feb. 18, 2005, will be Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at CHILDS FUNERAL HOME in Haydenville. Burial will be in Village Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg, at the convenience of the family.
