Virginia Elizabeth Giroux

Virginia Elizabeth Giroux, 59, of 384 East Main St., died Tuesday morning at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on July 24, 1946, daughter of the late Harvey A. Giroux and Wilma Boruta Giroux, she attended schools in Adams, including the St. Stanislaus Parochial School, and she graduated from Adams Memorial High School in 1964. She also graduated from the McCann Technical High School post-graduate program in 1965. Miss Giroux was a Vietnam veteran, and she served in the Navy as a storekeeper third class from 1966 to 1969. She was last employed by Berkshire Bank on North Street in Pittsfield for seven years until her retirement in 2005. Prior to that, she worked as an information systems operation specialist at North Adams Regional Hospital for 10 years. She also worked at the former ComFed Savings Bank in Pittsfield for two years and at Sprague Electric Co. from 1973 to 1979. In her youth, she worked at the former Arnold Print Works, Plunkett Hospital and Adams Nursing Home. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was also a eucharistic minister and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She leaves a brother, Harvey A. Giroux Jr. of Adams, and two sisters, Dolores Rancatti and Christine Abbott, both of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Virginia Giroux, who died Feb. 21, 2006, will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS -- CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Ronald Giroux, who died in 1995.
