Angela C. Carlotto Hayden

Angela C. Carlotto Hayden, 97, of Williams Street died Friday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home. Born in Italy on Nov. 29, 1908, daughter of John and Louise Carlotto Carlotto, she attended schools in Great Barrington. She retired at age 65 from the former Jennifer House. Previously, she worked at the former Monument Mills and the former Rising Mill Paper Co. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church and a past president of its Rosary Sodality. She was also an active member of the church bazaar, a former member of the Housatonic PTA, and a 4-H leader. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Hayden was the wife of the late Marshall W. Hayden, whom she married on June 8, 1946, at Corpus Christi Church. He died on June 9, 1983. Her first husband, William Hawver, died in 1945 in World War II. She leaves one daughter, Frances Locke of Housatonic; two sons, John D. Hayden of McDonough, Ga., and Robert M. Hayden of Great Barrington; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Eugene Hawver. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Angela C. Carlotto Hayden, who died Friday, March 10, 2006, will be held on Wednesday, March 15, at 9 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Corpus Christi Church with the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Angela's memory may be made to Corpus Christi Church Renovation Fund, Housatonic Hose Company, or to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815. Mrs. Hayden leaves two daughters-in-law, Janis and Julie; a son-in-law, Ed, and seven grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Susan, and Matthew Hayden, Pam Riiska, Khristian Hawver, and Angela Bitel. She was predeceased by one sister, Frances Asci, and five brothers, Arthur, Joseph, Stephen, Natalie, and Peter "Chippy" Carlotto.
