Merle Patrick Wynn

Merle Patrick Wynn, 99, of Bow Wow Road, died Wednesday at Great Barrington Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he had resided since 2002. Born in Sheffield on April 24, 1906, son of Merle A. and Mary E. Conway Wynn, he attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Sheffield High School. He later graduated from the Bromfield Pearson School of Engineering at Tufts College. He was employed for many years as a civil engineer and land surveyor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A member of the Wally Bynum Airstream Club, he was a ham radio operator, and loved the Wynn family homestead in Sheffield. His wife, the former Mildred Parker, whom he married on June 1, 1929, died Aug. 14, 2000. He leaves two grandchildren, Terence Merle Wynn of Shohola, Pa., and Laurie Wynn Fiedler of Wayne, N.J., and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Merle William Wynn, who died Sept. 23, 2002. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Merle Patrick Wynn, 99, who died on March 15, 2006, will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox. A graveside service will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Calvary Christian Church in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
