Catherine Partenope

Catherine Partenope, 100, of 10 Hospital Ave. died Thursday at Sweet Brook Transitional Care & Health Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Feb. 12, 1906, daughter of Vincenzo and Vincenza Maddalena Partenope, she graduated from Drury High School in 1924 and from the former Bliss Business College. Miss Partenope was first employed by the former Austen Riggs Foundations in Stockbridge. In 1925, she joined the former Arnold Print Works as an office worker. When it closed in 1942, she transferred to its Adams plant, retiring in 1976. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a longtime member of North Adams Sons of Italy Lodge 704. She leaves nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Catherine Partenope will be Monday at 10:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church or the American Diabetes Foundation through the funeral home. Survivors include nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Desdemona Morocco, Mary Marino, Angelina Grande, Teresa Partenope and Venice Partenope R.N., and her brothers, Thomas, Frank, Michael, Anthony, Othello, Iago and Joseph William Partenope. Another brother died in infancy in Montreal, Canada.
