Ellen Morrissey

Ellen Morrissey, 98, of 85 Eagle St. died Saturday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Aug. 26, 1907, daughter of Edward Lowe and Jane Moore Lowe, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. She was employed by the former WR Grace Co. in Adams for several years, and was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. She enjoyed knitting and was well-known for her sweaters. She was the widow of Lawrence Morrissey, who died in 1960. She leaves several nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private graveside committal services and burial for Ellen Morrissey, who died Saturday, May 6, 2006, will be held in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. She leaves several nieces and nephews, including Marion Folino of North Adams and John Lowe of Tucson, Ariz. She also leaves grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ethel Lowe, Esther Beebe and Marion Walker, and three brothers, Edward W. Lowe, Robert Lowe and John Lowe.
