Bernard D. Morris

Bernard D. Morris, 78, of 52 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Sunday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in North Adams on March 13, 1928, son of the late Arthur J. Morris and Aurora St. Cyr Morris, he attended schools in North Adams, including the former Holy Family Parochial School. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1946-47 in the Allied Army of Occupation in Europe. He was employed by the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 33 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Mr. Morris was a member of the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed bowling, and was a Boston Red Sox and North Adams Steeplecats baseball fan. He leaves his wife, the former Theresa M. Tassone, whom he married on June 2, 1947. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Linda J. Mears of Phoenix, Ariz., and Beverly J. Jones of Los Angeles; a brother, Richard Morris of North Adams; a sister, Janet LaChance of Lenox; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Seven brothers and sisters are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Bernard Morris, who died Sunday, July 9, 2006, will be held Thursdaymorning, July 13, 2006, at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to VNA-Hospice of North Berkshire in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. He leaves two sons-in-law, Kevin Mears and James Jones; a grandson, Nathan Mears and his wife, Rosaleen, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Meghan Mears and Stephen Mears of Phoenix, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.
