Anne Marie DeMartino

Anne Marie DeMartino, 39, of 103 Mill St., Amherst, died Tuesday at 31 Gulf Road, the home of her father, Mario J. DeMartino. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 2, 1966, also the daughter of Phyllis Scipione DeMartino, she was a 1984 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a degree in shiatsu from the Charles River School of Shiatsu in Cambridge in 2005. Ms. DeMartino was a certified practitioner of shiatsu. At the time of her death, she was employed by Verite Inc. in Amherst as an editor. Before that, she taught English as a second language in Amherst and at Westfield State College. She was also an independent farmer in Hampshire and Franklin counties. She enjoyed dancing, music and her ducks. She was also a Boston Red Sox fan. Besides her father and mother, of Pittsfield, she leaves her stepmother, Sandy DeMartino of Lanesborough; a son, Robin Stewart DeMartino of Amherst; a sister, Andrea DeMartino Wiepert of Pittsfield; a brother, Anthony A. DeMartino of Pittsfield, and a stepsister, Diane Stiles of Lanesborough. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Anne Marie DeMartino, who died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 1 at Sons of Italy Itam Lodge on Waubeek Road in Pittsfield. A private burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robin Stewart DeMartino Scholarship Fund in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements. She also leaves a longtime family friend, William Stewart, and his wife, Sarah Dolven of Leverett, and their children, Rheannon and Liam; her sister, Andrea DeMartino Wiepert, and her husband, Larry, and their children, Emma and Matthew; her brother Anthony DeMartino, and his wife, Dawn, and their son, Drew; her stepsister, Diane Stiles, and her children, Ryan and Meaghan; her stepbrother-in-law, James Ferguson, and his wife, Brenda, and their children, Raina, Jay and Zachery. She also leaves aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by a stepsister, Sharon Ferguson.
