M. Eileen Walshe

M. Eileen Walshe, 99, formerly of 26 Franklin St., died Sunday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she had resided for seven years. Born in North Adams on June 27, 1907, daughter of John F. and Helen Judge Walshe, she was a 1925 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School and received a business degree from the former Bliss Business College. Miss Walshe was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for many years, retiring in 1977 as office manager. Before that, she worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad as personal secretary to the vice president of bridges and tunnels. She also was employed by the forner Arnold Print Works and the former Gale Shoe Co. as a secretary. In 1978, she moved to Melbourne Beach, Fla., to live with her sister, Frances Green. In 1987, she moved with the family to Reston, Va., and in 1999, she moved to Essex. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She enjoyed music and was often called upon to play the piano at church and office events. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Life's Veterans' Group. She leaves her sister, of Williamstown. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A wake for M. Eileen Walshe, who died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, will be conducted Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis' Church in North Adams by the Rev. Jerome Joseph Day, OSB, pastor of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Manchester, N.H. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Eileen Walshe's memory to The Patient Fund, Sweet Brook Care Centers, 1561 Cold Springs Road, Williamstown, MA 01267, or Elder Services of Berkshire County, 66 Wendell Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She leaves her brother-in-law, Earl Green; a niece, Mary E. (Green) Garofano of Pittsfield; nephews, attorney James F. Green of McLean, Va., Gerald J. Green, Kevin P. Green of Boyce, Va., and Shaun M. Green of Groton; and grandnieces and grandnephews, Maura, Kelsey, Meredith and Michael Green, and Lt. Brian Green, USMC. Her father was from Balle Nuir, Killenaule, County Tipperary, Ireland, and her mother was born in Monroe Bridge.
