Viva Dexter Baumann

Viva Dexter Baumann, 92, formerly of East Windsor Road, died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons. Born in New Bedford on Dec. 8, 1913, daughter of the late Richard Williamson and Elise Leary Williamson, she was educated in New Bedford Schools. Mrs. Baumann was employed by General Electric Co. in Bridgeport, Conn., as a production worker, retiring in 1974 after more than 25 years in service. She was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Club and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She moved to Peru in 1974. Her husband, Lawrence C. Baumann, whom she married on Jan. 21, 1943, died on Aug. 19, 1963. She leaves her son, Lawrence R. Baumann of Windsor, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Viva Dexter Baumann, who died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and burial will take place in Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield, Conn. Mrs. Baumann also leaves a daughter-in-law, Carolyn A. Baumann, and her two grandchildren, Gretchen A. Baumann of Haverill and Jon-Jason Baumann of Raleigh, N.C. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Williamson; her sister, Elsie Diamond; and her longtime companion, Rudy Kaatz of Pittsfield.
