Stanley Walter Polchlopek

Stanley Walter Polchlopek, 82, of 1100 Mohawk Trail died Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Dalton on April 6, 1924, son of Albert and Rose Pierowicz Polchlopek, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Polchlopek worked for various construction companies in Berkshire County on jobs including the Bear Swamp Project in Monroe. He also worked in the maintenance department at C.H. McCann Technical School, retiring in 1986. After retirement he worked part time for General Electric and for the former Brenner Associates, both in Pittsfield. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in North Adams. He and his wife, the former Irene B. Graney, were married Feb. 24, 1973. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Katherine Polchlopek of Adams; and a son, Al Polchlopek of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Stanley Walter Polchlopek, who died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, will be conducted Monday, Sept. 11, at noon at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, by the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor of First United Methodist Church, North Adams. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Monday at the funeral home from 11 until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association or to the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220. He leaves a daughter-in-law, Susan Engstrom of Adams, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Albert, Frank, Walter, Alex and Emil Polchlopek, and by a sister, Laura Ostaski.
