Darla J. Ciempa, 59

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Darla Jean Ciempa, 59, of 215 Houghton St. died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at her home. Born in Adams on June 13, 1947, daughter of Evelyn Kleiner Ciempa and the late Joseph D. Ciempa, she attended schools in North Adams and obtained her general educational development diploma from Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield, where she also took several other courses for credit. Ms. Ciempa was employed by Berkshire Family and Individual Resources as a certified nursing assistant and home health aide, until retiring in 1998. Prior to that, she was employed by Vishay Sprague for 17 years and its predecessor, Sprague Electric Co. She enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Besides her mother, of North Adams, she leaves her longtime companion, Stanley Sweet; two sons, Richard Durocher and Robert Matte Jr., both of North Adams; a daughter, Penny Durocher of North Adams; two brothers, David Ciempa and Michael Ciempa, both of North Adams; 15 grandchildren, including Ryan Durocher, with whom she resided; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Gerald and Donald Ciempa. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Ms. Ciempa will take place today at 1:30 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Edward King, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church of North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made are suggested through the funeral home.
