Nancy McGlynn Doan

Nancy McGlynn Doan, 82, of 51 Dorchester Ave. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Adams on July 17, 1924, daughter of Joseph A. and Augusta Dach McGlynn, she graduated from the former Adams High School in 1943. She enlisted in the Women's Army Corps on Oct. 25, 1944, and was a surgical technician. She was awarded the Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal, and was honorably discharged on Feb. 23, 1946, with the rank of private first class. She was a legal clerk for several law firms in the Boston and Berkshire areas. Previously, she had worked in the Naval Ordnance Division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield and at Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was the widow of Lyle R. Doan. She leaves a son, Charles R. Doan of North Adams; two granddaughters; and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Nancy McGlynn Doan died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Following cremation, her ashes will be inurned in the family lot in Bellevue Cemetery, next to her mother. There will be no visitation period and MCBRIDE FUNERAL SERVICE, Adams, is in charge of the service. She leaves a daughter-in-law, Barbara; a two granddaughters, Natalie Herndon of Ringgold, Ga. and Katherine Doan of North Adams; and a great-grandchild, Kenneth Herndon of Ringgold, Ga. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph "Murray" McGlynn, who passed away on Nov. 20, 1982.

My Nana is still missed, it just seems like yesturday she was with us, she was a kind hearted person, a loving grandmother, and I will always will remember her, in memory of a loving Nana I sure do miss you still, you will always have a place in my heart.
