Veronica Jane Kus

Veronica Jane Kus, 86, of 7 Fryc Lane died Saturday at home. Born in Adams on Sept. 3, 1920, daughter of John and Anna Flaga Fryc, she attended local schools. Mrs. Kus was employed by General Electric Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1985. Earlier, she worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church, where she was a longtime lector, and, more recently, was a lector for the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. She volunteered for the St. Stanislaus parish bazaars, helping to prepare the Polish foods. She had been a member of the Adams Agricultural Fair Association since the early 1990s, acting as chairwoman of its floral division, and was an officer of the North Adams Garden Club, where she served as chairwoman the annual flower shows. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, swimming, traveling, photography and playing the organ. Her husband, Joseph F. Kus Sr., whom she married Nov. 10, 1945, died Oct. 1, 2001. She leaves two sons, Joseph F. Kus Jr. of Adams and James J. Kus of Pittsfield; a daughter, Kathleen A. Lavigne of Enfield, Conn., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Veronica Kus, who died Oct. 7, 2006, will be Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Agricultural Fair Association or to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Conn., through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220. She also leaves two daughters-in-law, Marcia (Joseph) and Sharon (James) Kus; her former son-in-law, Michael Lavigne; three grandchildren, Stephanie and Jennifer Kus, both of Pittsfield, and Andrew Lavigne of Enfield, Conn.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
