Louis Thomas Brown

Louis Thomas Brown, 56, of 879 Wade Inn Road died Thursday at home after a short illness. Before moving to Becket in November 2005, he had resided in Granby for 16 years. Born in Hampton, Va., on Feb. 27, 1950, son of James R. and Betty Bellamy Brown, he was educated in Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland and North Carolina schools, and graduated from high school in 1968. He was also a graduate of Springfield Technical Community College. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from July 1969 to December 1971 and was discharged with the rank of private first class. A master mechanic and electrician, Mr. Brown was employed by Solutia Inc., formerly Monsanto, in Springfield from 1979 until retiring in April 2005. He also owned and operated Louis Thomas Brown Electrical and Mechanical LLC in Granby from 1995 until his illness in January. He attended Becket Federated Church and was a member of the Electricians' Union and the National Rifle Association. He was a jack of all trades. He leaves his wife, Lisa Williams. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jermaine Denson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Erica Howard of Springfield; and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private graveside service for Louis Thomas Brown, who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, will be conducted in North Becket Cemetery by the Rev. Michael C. Nash, pastor of Becket Federated Church. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Brown may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Mr. Brown also leaves his granddaughter, Brieana Howard. He enjoyed working with his hands and loved cars.
