Katherine A. Gennette

Katherine A. Gennette, 81, of 69 Old State Road died on Monday morning at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Born in Pittsfield on April 29, 1925, daughter of Albert and Katherine Harrington Jones Sr., she was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. Gennette was employed at General Electric Co. as a computer operator for 20 years, retiring in 1986. A communicant of North American Martyrs Church in Berkshire Village, she was a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. Her husband, Roland G. Gennette, whom she married Dec. 24, 1945, died April 2, 1992. She leaves two sons, Robert R. Gennette of Berkshire Village and Thomas G. Gennette of Springfield; a sister, Patricia Hinkley of Mineral Springs, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by another daughter, Cheryl Gennette, who died in January 1952. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Katherine A. Gennette, 81, who died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at North American Martyrs Church in Berkshire Village, celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to North American Martyrs Church or HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
