Albert P. Ranzoni

Albert P. Ranzoni, 92, of 241 West Road died Friday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Alford on March 19, 1914, son of Pasquale and Rose Morandi Ranzoni, he was educated at Clark School for the Deaf. As a child, he worked on the family farm. Mr. Ranzoni was employed by the former Monument Mills and Hillsdale Foundry and worked in the marketing and assembly department at Becton, Dickenson Co. in Canaan, Conn., for 12 years, retiring in 1977. He also was a caretaker at one time. He enjoyed gardening, traveling across the United States and to Hawaii and Canada, and watching sports. His wife, Evelyn R. Costell, whom he married May 20, 1940, died Sept. 12. He leaves a son, James Ranzoni of Alford; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Albert P. Ranzoni Jr., died June 19, 2004. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Albert P. Ranzoni Sr., who died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Albert's memory may be made to the Alford Fire Department, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements. He also leaves three grandchildren, Angela Ranzoni and her companion, Will Gayer, Ginni Sheridan and her husband, Scott, and Robyn Hoy and her husband, Michael; two great-grandchildren, Evan Sheridan and Makayla Hoy; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Ranzoni of Alford. He was especially fond of his collies and, later, his shelties.
