Lawrence Charles Lemoine

Lawrence Charles Lemoine, 77, of 6 Valley St. died yesterday at home after a long illness. Born in Adams on June 5, 1929, son of Ovide and Helen LaBelle Lemoine, he was educated in local schools and was a 1949 graduate of the former Adams High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served at Fort Jackson, S.C. He was honorably discharged as a private 1st class. He was employed by Pfizer Inc. Prior to that, he was employed by Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., the former Brackley's Book Store of North Adams and Aladco. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the American Legion Post 160 of Adams. He enjoyed trout fishing in local waters and was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He and his wife, the former Joan G. Dalton, were married June 19, 1951, in St. Thomas' Church by the Rev. John J. Shea. Besides his wife, he leaves five sons, David M. Lemoine and Michael A. Lemoine, both of Adams, Bruce E. Lemoine of New Canaan, Conn., Paul E. Lemoine of East Nassau, N.Y., and Lawrence Lemoine Jr. of Granby, Conn.; a daughter, Susan Flynn of Pittsfield; two sisters, Rita Nilos and Lucille Jzyk, both of Adams; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lawrence Charles Lemoine, who died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be observed Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the VNA/Hospice of Northern Berkshire through MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, which is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lemoine also leaves a son-in-law, William Flynn, and a nephew and a niece. He was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Maurice Lemoine.
