Susan E. O'Brien, 57
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Susan Elizabeth "Ducky" O'Brien, 57, of 1110 South Church St. died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident on Route 8 in Cheshire.
Born in Bennington, Vt., on Aug. 25, 1949, a daughter of John J. Kane and Julia M. Elwell Kane, she attended schools in Bennington including the former St. Francis de Sales Academy and graduated from the former Bennington Catholic High School with the class of 1967. She also graduated from the Fanny Allen School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt., in 1969 and later received her registered nursing degree.
Ms. O'Brien was last employed as a nursing supervisor at Willowood Health Center in Williamstown. She first worked as an emergency room nurse at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt., and at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She also was a nurse at Hillcrest Health Center in Pittsfield and at the former Valleyhead School in Lenox.
She enjoyed working out at Curves. She was devoted to her two dogs, Belle and Rascal.
She leaves her longtime companion, Anthony Girgenti; five brothers, Daniel J. Kane and his wife, Susan, of Hoosick Falls, NY., Michael J. Kane and his wife, Betty, of Meador, W.Va., Peter J. Kane and his wife, Linda, of Bennington, Anthony J. Kane of Jacksonville, Fla., and James G. Kane and his wife, Victoria, of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sisters, Patricia A. Mongiat and her husband, Anthony, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Kathryn M. Hayes and her husband, Steven, of Williston, Vt., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and several special friends
FUNERAL NOTICE — A private funeral for Ms. O'Brien will be held at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home For Funerals, Central Chapels, North Adams. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
