William Matthew Czelusniak

William Matthew Czelusniak, 88, of 19 Mill St. died yesterday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. Born in Fall River on Dec. 7, 1918, son of John and Mary Soltys Czelusniak, he graduated from Durfee High School. He moved to this area as a young man, living for a time in Cheshire before relocating to Adams. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served with the 438th Bombardment Squadron in the Pacific theater and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1946. Mr. Czelusniak was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk at the Adams post office, retiring Dec. 27, 1985, with more than 30 years of service. Before that, he worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a former member of its St. Stanislaus Society. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He enjoyed walking and hiking. His wife, the former Daisy R. Krzeminski, whom he married May 10, 1944, died April 7, 1986. He leaves a daughter, Linda J. Troy of Cheshire, and a brother, Thaddeus Czelusniak of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William Matthew Czelusniak, who died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, will be Thursday at 9 from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church through the funeral home. He also leaves a son-in-law, Thomas, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Amelia DaCruz and Albina Macarone, and by a half-sister, Adeline Alfonso.
