Paul B. Dixon

Paul B. Dixon, 67, of West Street died Sunday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born Feb. 17, 1939, in Beverly, son of Bertram and Carrie Wiggin Dixon, he attended school there and graduated from Beverly Vocational and Technical School. In 1960, Mr. Dixon moved to Monterey, where he worked at New England Keswick Camp for several years before moving to Chicago in 1963. He worked for Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for 10 years, and began his 34-year association with AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) Clubs International in Streamwood, Ill. He and his wife, the former Gertrude McFarlane, were married April 11, 1986, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The couple met in Africa, where Mrs. Dixon was doing missionary work and Mr. Dixon was visiting family. In 1999, the couple moved to Sandisfield. Prior to his death, Mr. Dixon was employed again by New England Keswick and also for Ormsbee Bus Co., driving school buses for the Southern Berkshire Regional School District. He was an active member of his church, the Faith Bible Church in Winsted, Conn. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Janice Martinez of Chicago and Judy Stevenson of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Norman W. Dixon of Philadelphia and Walter R. Dixon of Chicopee; and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul B. Dixon, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by the Rev. Joseph McNally. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either New England Keswick or Faith Bible Church through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
