Barbara F. Boucher

Barbara F. Boucher, 79, of 41 Castle St. died Friday at home. Born in Great Barrington on April 24, 1927, daughter of Edward H. and Florence Griffin Boucher, she was a 1945 graduate of the former Searles High School. Miss Boucher was employed by the New England Telephone Co. in Great Barrington and Pittsfield before retiring as senior supervisor on Feb. 11, 1979, with 33 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. She was a Massachusetts Heart Fund co-chairman and volunteer, and a volunteer for ALSAC St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She served as vice president, president and community activities chairman for the Berkshire section of the William J. Denver chapter of the Pioneers of America. She was also a poet, and author of "Fancy, Fancy, Fancy." Several of her poems were published locally. Miss Boucher leaves a nephew, Edward C. Boucher of Durango, Colo.; and a niece, Deborah Drake of Pittsfield. FUNERAL SERVICES -- The funeral for Barbara F. Boucher, who died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Peter's Church Restoration Fund in care of the funeral home, 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230. She is predeceased by two brothers, Glenford Boucher and Walter Boucher.
