Dorothy Danaher DeMarco, R.N., 84, of 294 State Line Drive, Pownal, died Tuesday at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington after being stricken earlier in the day. Born in Williamstown, Mass., on August 25, 1922, daughter of William Edward Danaher Sr. and Helen Wandrei Danaher, she attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from the former Williamstown High School. She also graduated from the former Mercy School of Nursing in Springfield, Mass. Mrs. DeMarco was employed for many years as an operating room nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was employed as supervisor at the former Adams Nursing Homes in both Adams and Williamstown, retiring in 1982. She was a longtime communicant of Saints Patrick & Raphael Parish in Williamstown. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. She leaves her husband, John Joseph DeMarco, whom she married Sept. 4, 1950, in St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Besides her husband, she also leaves a daughter, Mary-Anne D. Ponti of Manchester, Maine; a sister, Mary A. Danaher of Howescove, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothy Danaher DeMarco, who died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, will be tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the funeral home are tonightfrom 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Patrick's Food Pantry, in care of the funeral home. Mrs. DeMarco also leaves a son-In-law, Michael Ponti, and two grandsons, Nicholas and John Ponti. She was predeceased by a brother, William E. Danaher.
