Alphonse A. Seney

Alphonse A. Seney, 81, of 42 Meadow St. died Saturday at home. Born in Schuylerville, N.Y., on June 29, 1925, son of Arthur A. and Florence Bentley Seney, he attended schools there. He moved to Adams in 1948. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European and African theaters and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Seney was employed by General Electric Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1987 as a supervisor in the naval ordnance department. He also worked for a short time for the former Brightwater Paper Co. He was a communicant of the parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of America Legion Post 160 and the Knights of Columbus, Council 230. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He and his wife, the former Norma King, were married April 15, 1950. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Ann Morris of Adams; a son, Gerald J. Seney Sr. of Adams; a brother, Arthur J. Seney of Falls Village, Conn.; two sister, Olive Patrick of Bennington, Vt., and Marvil Patrick of Schuylerville; and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alphonse A. Seney, who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church celebrated by the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia, CP. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, Knights of Columbus or the American Cancer Society, all through the funeral home. Mr. Seney also leaves a son-in-law, Anthony; a grandson, Gerald J. Seney Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Helena Seney and a granddaughter, Jennifer Jean Seney, are deceased.
