Helen G. Zieba

Helen G. Zieba, 97, of 18 Summer St., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Adams on Feb. 24, 1909, daughter of Krysten and Agata Wojtowicz Zajac, she attended St. Stanislaus' Elementary School. Mrs. Zieba ran a catering business at the former Summer Street Hall. Before that, she was employed for many years by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates until it ceased operations. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of St. Michael's Society and the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking Polish food, Polka dancing and camping. Her husband, Stanley J. Zieba, whom she married Dec. 26, 1935, died Dec. 17, 1965. She leaves a daughter, Northern Berkshire Register of Deeds Frances T. Brooks of Adams, with whom she resided; a son, James S. Zieba of Sanford, N.C.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Two sons, Janiu and Stasiu Zieba, are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Helen G. Zieba, who died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, will be Saturday at noon from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Church celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home at 3:40 p.m. to recite the Rosary. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Stanislaus Kostka School or to the Felician Sisters, both through the funeral home. Mrs. Zieba also leaves nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Vincent, Joseph and Kasimere Zajac, and by two sisters, Josephine Serafin and Stefania Zajac.
