Evelyn May Lyons

Evelyn May Lyons, 93, of 473 West Main St., died Saturday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on June 27, 1913, daughter of Walter and Bessie Randall Blanchard, she attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1933. Mrs. Lyons worked as an assembler for Sprague Electric Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her husband, Joseph H. Lyons, whom she married July 22, 1950, died Sept. 19, 2005. She leaves a daughter, Debra Crews of Clarksburg; a son, Harold Jones of North Adams; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Lyons, who died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, also leaves two grandchildren, Terry Williams of Greenville, S.C.; and Randy Butler of Worthington; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Olive Crandall, Dorothy Shea and Verna Knox. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, with the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, North Adams, officiating. Burial will follow. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or a charity of the donors choice, through the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
