Ruth C. Agar

Ruth C. Agar, 81, a longtime resident of East Stahl Road, Ashley Falls, died Thursday at Fairview Commons, where she had resided for a month. Born in Lansing, Mich., on Dec. 31, 1925, daughter of Alton C. and Beryl Trescott Farlin, she attended schools there and was a graduate of Charlotte (Mich.) High School. She moved to Sheffield in 1944. Mrs. Agar was employed by Bicron Electronics in Canaan, Conn., for many years. She was a member of Old Parish Church and of Hill and Dale Songsters in Great Barrington. She enjoyed gardening and making dried flower arrangements. She and her husband, George T. Agar, were married June 24, 1944. Mr. Agar is deceased. She leaves two sons, Brian P. Agar of Cambridge, N.Y., and Michael D. Agar of Ashley Falls; three daughters, Sandra K. Jones of Los Cruces, N.M., Marsha A. Pshenishny of New Marlborough and Paula J. Moore of Red Hook, N.Y.; a brother, Nelson Farlin of Lakeland, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Another son, Eric M. Agar, died in 1994. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ruth C. Agar, who died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Burial will take place in the spring at a time to be announced. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sheffield Fire Department Building Fund, Mothers Against Drunk Driving or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, all through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Agar also leaves two daughters-in-law, Judy (Brian) and Carla (Michael); three sons-in-law, Robert Jones, John Pshenishny and Preston Moore; and a sister-in-law, Catherine. Two brothers, Alton and Glenn Farlin, and a sister, June Roys, are deceased. Mrs. Agar cherished spending time with her family and friends.
