Sarah J. Portieri, 68, of East Street, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 4, 1939, daughter of William J. and Marion Broderick Newton, she was a 1957 graduate of Lee High School. Mrs. Portieri was employed by the Lee and Stockbridge Housing Authority, retiring in 1993 as executive director. She also worked at Eastover for several years. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church and enjoyed cooking. She and her husband, Battista Portieri, were married Nov. 28, 1959. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Robert L. Portieri of Lee, Michael J. Portieri of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mark J. Portieri of Becket; a daughter, Robin L. Rand of Lee; a brother, Curtis E. Newton of Chatham, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Sarah J. Portieri, who died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kelly Funeral Home by the Rev. Donna Trebilcox, rector of St. George's Episcopal Church in Lee. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visiting hours will be tomorrow evening from 4 to 7 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice, in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mrs. Portieri enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Rand, and Melanie, Cassandra and Brianna Portieri. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Sheila K. Portieri; a son-in-law, Edward A. Rand; and Patricia Murray and Sandra Perez.
