Yvonne M. Benoit, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Yvonne M. Benoit, 85, of 54 Kemp Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on July 3, 1921, daughter of Jean and Edmire Landry St. Pierre, she attended local schools, including the former Holy Family School.
Mrs. Benoit was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. and later by the former Adams Rest Home.
She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church, now Our Lady of Mercy Church. She enjoyed attending all her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She and her husband, Leonard M. Benoit, were married June 7, 1947, in North Adams.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Charlene Cheesbro and her husband, Wayne, of North Adams; a son, David L. Benoit and his wife, Rosemary, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Marion Field of North Adams and Margaret Pilot of Sanford, Fla.; a brother, Joseph St. Pierre of North Adams; three grandchildren, Shane and Shawn Benoit and Erika Cheesbro; and seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas, Carter, Emily, Tia, Saige and Taylor.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Emma Rivard, Blanche Hamelin and Albina Michaels; and seven brothers, Ernest, Adelard, Roy, Oliva, Henry, Alphonse and Armand St. Pierre.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Benoit will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
