Mary E. Shalley

Mary E. Shalley, 74, of 149 Monument Valley Road, died Tuesday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on May 6, 1932, daughter of William and Ruth Snow Rowley, she attended schools in Sandisfield. She moved to Great Barrington in 1969. Mrs. Shalley worked as a housekeeper at the former Golden Eagle Motel in Great Barrington, and also for area residences. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. She enjoyed crafts, and her dog, Little Guy. She leaves her husband, David M. Shalley, whom she married on May 30, 1969, in Otis. In addition to her husband, she also leaves a brother, Frank H. Rowley of Otis; and two sisters, Nancy Loring and Thelma Kennedy, both of Otis. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Rowley Shalley, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, will be on Fridayat 11 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends at a calling hour preceding the funeral, from 10 to 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Mary's memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Shalley also leaves four nieces and nephews.
