Eleanor Koncelik Curtiss

Eleanor Koncelik Curtiss, 82, formerly of State Road, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Helen Moening, of Ridgeway Avenue in Pittsfield, where she had resided for the past year. Born in New York City on May 24, 1924, she attended schools there. Mrs. Curtiss retired in 2005 from The Dollar Store, where she had worked for seven years. Previously, she worked at the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. for 29 years and spent 20 years at the former Adams Super Market. She also worked at the former Paul's Restaurant. She and her husband, Floyd W. Curtiss Sr., were married June 2, 1951. He died March 22, 2006. The couple made and sold Christmas wreaths during the winter, and in the summer, traveled to Mount Greylock to pick blueberries, which they also sold. Besides her daughter, she leaves another daughter, Ann Whipple of North Adams; two sons, Donald Barnum of Salisbury, Conn., and Lewis Barnum of Lee; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Theresa Barnum, died in 1988, and a son, Floyd W. Curtiss Jr., died Feb. 17. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Eleanor Curtiss, who died March 25, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Jill Graham. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
