Antoinette Pietras

Antoinette Pietras, 88, of 5 Gilead St., died Tuesday at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on Dec. 30, 1918, daughter of Raphael and Rosalie Choiniere Moreau, she attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1937. She worked for Cascade Paper Co. in North Adams for several years, retiring in 1974. Prior to that, she worked for several years for the former Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams, and for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. Mrs. Pietras was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed taking walks, knitting, sewing and reading. She leaves her husband, Walter Pietras, whom she married on Sept. 2, 1940. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Ronald Pietras of Adams; a sister, Irene Moderski of Adams; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Antoinette Pietras, who died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Spring St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County, Adams Ambulance Fund, or VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire, in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Pietras also leaves a daughter-in-law, Rosamond Pietras. She enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren, Kyle Pietras of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Seth Pietras of Washington, D.C., and Dr. Colleen Pietras of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren, Raffaela Pietras and Norah Pietras; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Clayton.
