Bertha E. Franklin, 91, of 148 Maple St., formerly of Hewins Street in Ashley Falls, died yesterday -- her birthday -- at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had resided since 1996. Born in Valatie, N.Y., on April 9, 1916, daughter of Eugene and Lucy Thompson Kittle, she attended schools there. Mrs. Franklin was employed by Twin Lakes in Salisbury, Conn., as a housekeeper for more than 35 years, retiring in 1985. She was a former member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Ashley Falls. Her husband, Frank Franklin, died in 1952. Mrs. Franklin leaves a son, Frederick Franklin of Great Barrington; a daughter, Gladys Franklin Grady of Ashley Falls; and a brother, Eugene Kittle of Albany, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Bertha E. Franklin, who died Monday, April 9, 2007, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
