Florence Gartner

Florence Gartner, 91, of Lebanon, Mo., a Housatonic native, died Sunday in Christian Health Care South in Lebanon. Born in Housatonic on March 9, 1916, daughter of Peter and Helena Mariani Storti, she attended local schools. She made her home in New York City, where she was a homemaker. She also worked for the New Era Letter and Lithograph Corp. for many years. She enjoyed dancing and volunteered at a ballroom dance studio for some time. She and her husband had won several dance championships. She and Morton Gartner were married on Oct. 29, 1940. He died on Oct. 1, 2003. Mrs. Gartner leaves a daughter, Beverly Brown of Lebanon; a sister, Albini Oppermann of Housatonic; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Inurnment of the cremains of Florence Gartner, who died Sunday, April 8, 2007, will be at Housatonic Cemetery at a future date. Mrs. Gartner also leaves several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She and her husband Morton had a special bond, centered with deep love and devotion for one another. Florence was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.
