Paul Roger Burdick Sr.

Paul Roger Burdick Sr., 72, of 11 Haggerty St., died Monday at his home. Born in North Adams on May 23, 1934, son of Lawrence and Helen Reynolds Burdick, he attended North Adams schools. From 1998 until 2006, Mr. Burdick delivered the Berkshire Eagle and North Adams Transcript newspapers. Previously, he lived in Bennington, Vt., and also in Connecticut for several years, where he worked as a professional tractor-trailer driver for E.J. Kelly Trucking in Torrington, Conn. He returned to this area in 1980, where he worked for County Construction Co. until retiring in 1984. He and his wife managed the Historic Valley Park Campground in North Adams for two seasons. Mr. Burdick was an active member and supporter of Cub Scout Pack 104 in North Adams, and Boy Scout Troop 38 in Adams. He leaves his wife, the former Elaine J. Clark, whom he married on Dec. 13, 1975. He also leaves two sons, Paul "Skip" Burdick of Bennington, and Jay E. Burdick of Shaftsbury, Vt.; a stepson, Peter P. Belmonte Jr. of Adams; a step-daughter, Ann Marie Belmonte of Adams; four brothers, William Burdick of Adams, Gerald Burdick of Port Orange, Fla.; Jack Burdick of San Antonio, Texas, and Larry Burdick of Williamstown; a sister, Evelyn "Betty" Beckwith of Burlington, Vt.; and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul R. Burdick, who died Monday, April 30, 2007, will be held this evening, at 7 p.m. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Mr. Burdick's cousin, the Rev. Roy Burdick, pastor of the Florida Baptist Church, will officiate. Calling hours are this afternoon from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, or to the Boy Scouts of America, in care of the funeral home. Solomon Jr.; four grandchildren, Mathew Burdick, Zachary Burdick, Dakota Burdick and Kadence Burdick; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Burdick, Jr. and Robert Burdick; and by three sisters, Helen Burdick, Carol Severin and Gertrude Volpi; as well as his beloved cat, Rufus. Mr. Burdick was very fond of his newspaper customers and their pets.
