Catherine M. Bartlett

Catherine M. Bartlett, 102, of Maple Street, died Sunday at Wingate Nursing Home in East Longmeadow. Born on July 29, 1904, in West Stockbridge, daughter of Edward and Clara Dikeman Bartlett, she attended local schools and graduated from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. Following high school, Catherine graduated from the former Henry Bishop Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Pittsfield and went on to the former Westfield Normal School, where she studied education. Catherine began her career as a private duty nurse before working at the Nursery and Kindergarten School in West Stockbridge. She retired in the late 1960s after 27 years at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where she had worked as a medical secretary. Catherine lived most of her life in West Stockbridge, until she moved to Longmeadow 10 years ago. While in West Stockbridge, she was a strong supporter of the Congregational Church, was a member of the Eastern Star Wisdom Lodge No. 103, along with the Grange No. 246. Catherine also enjoyed spending time reading. Catherine is survived by a niece, Lynne Kindred of Longmeadow; two grandnephews, Malcolmb and Ryland Greene; and two great-grand nieces and one great-grandnephew. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Catherine M. Bartlett, who died Sunday, July 15, 2007, will be held on Thursday, at 2 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Kaufman. Burial will follow in the West Stockbridge Town Cemetery. Donations in memory of Catherine M.
