Maria Iris Garrity McInally

Maria Iris Garrity McInally, 83, of Brewster, died Tuesday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a serious illness. She was the sister of Jessica Cibelli of Lee. Born July 8, 1924, daughter of the late Michael Garrity and Catherine Kinney Moffatt Garrity of Glasgow, Scotland, she emigrated from Linwood, Scotland with her family to Massachusetts in 1971. She was a resident of Brewster since 1984. Before her retirement in 2005, she was a long-time employee of the Brewster Department of Public Works. Mrs. McInally was predeceased by her husband, Hugh McInally. Besides her sister, she is survived by her two daughters, Katrina Kirchner and Iris McInally of Brewster; a son, Charles McInally of Burlington; and four brothers, Charles Garrity, Robert Garrity, Michael Garrity, and Thomas Garrity. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Church, Canal Road, Orleans, on Friday at 10 a.m. Visitation and burial are private. Arrangements are by NICKERSON FUNERAL HOME of Orleans. Mrs. McInally was a remarkable, independent woman who had a wonderful life as a loving wife. She and her husband both greatly loved music and dancing together and were always extremely devoted to family. She enjoyed her work immensely, and will forever be remembered fondly by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed by her family. She is also survived by two sons-in-law, Peter Kirchner and William Harrison of Brewster; daughter-in-law, Krystyna McInally of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Martha Garrity, Ruby Garrity, Nancy Garrity, and Barbara Garrity. She leaves nine grandchildren: Katie and Richard Kirchner, Charles McInally, Paul Kardasz, Sydney Bodamer; Skylar, Shea and Sarah Harrison, and Julie McLaren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and five sisters, Katie and Elizabeth Garrity, Patricia Fullerton, Esther Garabedian, and Mary Jane Cassidy, and by her brothers, Francis Garrity and Henry Garrity; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Garrity. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cape Cod Hospital Radiation Oncology Department, 27 Park St., Hyannis, 02601, or the Brewster Fire and Rescue Association, 1657 Main St., Brewster, 02631.
